ISLAMIC JIHAAD AND WAR IN THE HINDU RELIGION

ISLAMIC JIHAAD AND WAR IN THE HINDU RELIGION
Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Naeemi writes in his book on “The Comparative Study of Islam and Hindu Religions”, Volume One, Page No 803:
So long as the significance and virtues of the Islamic Jihaad and the Wars in the Hindu Religions concern, there prevails a remarkable resemblance between what the Islam religion and the ancient Hindu religion dictate. But, one finds a huge difference in a matter of kind and humble behaviour as well as the generous heartedness with the enemies on the battlefield. It is because the chief objectives of waging the war from the Islamic perspectives is never to destroy the enemy community at all; instead it aims at protecting and rendering the immunity to mankind in the world against injustice, tyranny, violence. Therefore, the Islam religion dictates to exert only as much strength against the enemies as is sufficient to destroy the elements of injustice, oppression, violence etc. On the contrary, the Hindu religion cherishes the idea of never to allow any opportunity to the enemies; and to annihilate them by applying the maximum possible strength against them. To the sight of the Islamic war, it is an ordinance for the Muslims to kill only those enemies or infidels who kill the Muslims i.e. the Muslims can exert only as much oppression as they have exerted against them and never to trespass that limit because Allah, the Almighty, Commands on the holy Quran as follows.
“So whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in the same way that he has assaulted you” (Surah Baqarah, Verse 194)
“Verily, Allah does not like transgressors”.
(Surah Baqarah, Verse 190)
“Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers”.
(Surah Shura, Verse 40)
“Verily, Allah does not like those who cause mischief” (Surah Qisas, Verse: 87)
But, it is not dictated as a condition in the ancient Hindu religion or Vedas the Vedists or the ancient Hindu religion believers should only kill those who kill the Vedists or the Hindus without any further exaggeration in tyranny; instead the dictate of the ancient Hindu religion or the Vedas is: “Even if he is just an opponent of the religion”, irrespective of he kills or not, irrespective of he exerts oppression or not, kill him and impart the various severest punishments for death which you have already read in the above stated Shalok. Hence, the above stated Mantra of the Vedas teaches to behave very extremely mercilessly against the enemies and opponents. So, the commandments of the Vedas as its objectives are to kill, to burn down in the fire, to throw into the mouth of the lions, to destroy their farms and cultivations and towns, to cut down absolutely like the trees to those who don’t believe in the ancient Hindu religion or Vedas or cherish any animosity against their followers. Besides, it is worth noting a point in these Mantra that it dictates to deliver the severest death punishment merely for animosity or hatred by someone that too by throwing him into the mouth of lion and the other dreadful animals. Furthermore, it is a very astonishing statement in these books that they dictate to deliver the same above stated severe punishments to those who cherish the animosity against us and against whom we cherish the animosity and hatred. What a shocking and surprising justice it is! For what crime is this punishment prescribed for a person against whom you hate and cherish the animosity?
In brief, the Islam religion doesn’t impart any such teaching at any place to behave so severely, mercilessly and virulently against the enemies and antagonists as has been prescribed by the ancient Hindu religions books. Hence, the Islam religion never teaches to kill or to throw into the mouth of lion and dreadful animals or to burn down to ashes or to cut down like a tree to the person who doesn’t accept the Islam religion or keeps the animosity against the Muslims or the Muslims cherish the animosity against him or who is immoral, tyrant and misbehaving. On the contrary, the Lord Almighty ehxorts as follows
“There is no compulsion in the religion”.
(Sura-e-Baqarah, Verse 256.
It is mentioned in Tabrani, Volume Two, Page No 65 that ..
Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings be on him) said:
الخلق کلہ عیال اللہ فاحبھم الی اللہ انفعھم لعیالہ۔‘‘
Translation: All the created beings are a family of Allah; and Allah loves him the most from all the creatures who renders maximum benefits to His family.
Mishkatul Masabih, Volume Two, Page No 423.
الراحمون یرحمھم الرحمن ارحموا من فی الارض یرحمکم من فی السماء۔
Translation: “The merciful shows mercy to those who show mercy. You show mercy to those on the earth, then those on the Heavens will show mercy to you”.
The above reflected statements of the holy Quran and Hadith vouch for the fact that we must not compel anyone in the matters of religion and to the extent possible we should behave humbly and kindly to the creatures of Allah irrespective of him/her our enemy or friend. This is the way of behaviour which Allah loves. However, if an issue doesn’t get resolved out of kindness and humbleness, then you can exert only as much punishment as is exerted on you. The Lord Almighty says.
“If you take retribution, then do so in proportion to the wrong done to you”
(Surah Nahal, Verse No 126)
The Lord Almighty says at another place
“A life for a life, and an eye for an eye, and a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, and a tooth for a tooth, and for all wounds”
(Surah Maida: Verse No 45)
It implies that one should retaliate and punish in proportion to the injustice and oppression done. This is the genuine justice and fairness of the Islam religion. Thus and this way, the difference between the Ialam religion and the ancient Hindu religion in respect of behaviour with the enemies and opponents is apparently reflected here.
